The Gopher Equity Project is a diversity, equity, and inclusion initiative for undergraduate students at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Students are strongly encouraged to participate by taking the online training, joining discussion groups, and continuing to educate themselves starting with a curated list of resources.
This effort is one step in creating a positive campus climate for all students to thrive and succeed.
About the Project
Over the last year, we have partnered with over 500 students, and many faculty and staff, to select an educational experience that advances our commitment to fostering a welcoming community that values belonging, equity, diversity, and dignity in people and ideas. This effort is one step in creating a positive campus climate for all students to thrive and succeed.
This educational experience is strongly recommended for undergraduate students and is required of first-year students as part of a first-year course.
A Collaborative Effort
The initiative is sponsored by the Office of Undergraduate Education, Office for Student Affairs and Office for Equity and Diversity and supported by the Multicultural Student Success Steering Committee. A special thank you to the students, staff and faculty stepping up to facilitate the follow-up discussions. We hope this is an effective first step in students’ learning and community building.
