About TREC

Transformation and Reentry through Education and Community (TREC) is a partnership between Minneapolis College, Metropolitan State University, and the University of Minnesota focused on offering degree programs at three state correctional facilities: MCF-Stillwater, MCF-Lino Lakes, and MCF-Faribault.The TREC Partnership offers an associate degree track through Minneapolis College and a bachelor's degree track through Metropolitan State University. The U of M is supporting these degree programs by creating opportunities for members of our University community to teach courses inside facilities through these partners and contribute to co-curricular programming.

Opportunities to Participate

TREC is currently focused on on making the following contributions to the larger Partnership:

Recruiting and supporting our faculty, instructors, postdocs, and graduate students to teach in-person courses through Metropolitan State University and Minneapolis College for degree-seeking students at MCF-Stillwater,MCF-Lino Lakes, and MCF-Faribault.
Identifying members of our broader University community who are interested in volunteering their time to support TREC students by participating in in-person extra-curricular programming, mentoring, tutoring (especially writing or math), or other academic support services.
